BERWICK – To educate parents and children of the opioid epidemic devastating communities across Columbia County, Rep. David Millard (R-Berwick) has organized three drug forums, intended for both children and adults and led by medical professionals and local experts.

The forums will be held at Central Columbia High School on Monday, March 19, from 6-8 p.m.; Millville High School on Tuesday, March 27, from 6-8 p.m.; and Benton High School on Tuesday, April 24, from 6-8 p.m.

The forums will provide information about drug abuse, the opioid crisis and ways to avoid drug addiction. Speakers will include Jeremy Reese, Columbia County coroner; representatives from Columbia-Montour-Snyder-Union Mental Health Service System; and a representative from a local rehabilitation facility.

“I offered drug awareness forums last fall and they yielded a great community conversation,” said Millard. “All are welcome to attend these informative events which may help prevent future drug-related tragedies and heartache.”

Informational flyers, pamphlets and other resources will be available at the forums.

The forums are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information, call Millard’s district offices at (570) 759-8734 or (570) 387-0246.
