Millard Announces Grant Opportunities for Local Governments, Businesses
HARRISBURG – State grant opportunities are now available to local governments, businesses and municipal authorities through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for a variety of environmental, transportation and alternative energy initiatives, Rep. David Millard (R-Berwick) announced today.
“Local leaders and business owners should act quickly to take full advantage of the resources now available to assist them in accomplishing a wide variety of environmental, transportation and economic development projects,” Millard said. “These programs could provide great benefit to the entire region.”
The following programs are funded by Act 13 of 2012, the Marcellus Shale impact fee legislation. Applications will be accepted from March 1 through June 30, with expected CFA board action in September.
Abandoned Mine Drainage Abatement and Treatment
Baseline Water Quality Data Program
Flood Mitigation Program
Greenways Trails and Recreation Program
Orphaned and Abandoned Well Plugging Program
Sewage Facilities Program
Watershed Restoration and Protection Program 
In addition, grants and loans also are available through the following alternative energy programs. Applications for these programs are accepted on an ongoing basis for CFA consideration upon completion of a minimum 60-day application review by the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Department of Environmental Protection.
Alternative and Clean Energy (including compressed natural gas projects)
High Performance Buildings
Renewable Energy Program 
Finally, the CFA Multimodal Transportation Fund program, funded through Act 89 of 2013, encourages economic development and aims to ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation in the Commonwealth. Applications for this program will be accepted from March 1 through July 31 for anticipated CFA board action in November. Updated guidelines for the program will be posted to the CFA website in early February. Information about the program is available here.
