Millard Announces May Mobile Veterans Center Visit

BLOOMSBURG – Rep. David Millard (R-Millville) announced a May visit to Columbia County by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ mobile veterans center, which provides services to veterans and their families. 

The mobile vet center will be open in the parking lot of the TPC Powercenter from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6.  The TPC Powercenter is located at the intersection of Tenny Street and Route 11, just north of Bloomsburg.

“The United States Department of Veterans Affairs operates the mobile veterans center in order to make services easily available in more rural areas,” Millard said.  “I’m proud to partner with them to bring valuable services to Columbia County on the first Fridays of May, June, and July.”

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs operates the mobile veterans center to reach veterans in underserved areas.  There are several mobile vet centers in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.  

Some of the services provided through the center include:  
Individual and group counseling.
Marital and family counseling.
Bereavement counseling.
Medical referrals.
Assistance in applying for VA benefits.
Employment counseling, guidance and referrals.
Alcohol and drug assessments.
Information and referrals to community resources.     
The mobile veterans center features the following:  
A 38-foot mobile counseling center.
Two private offices.
Satellite communication and Internet service with the VA Medical Centers.
Video conferencing and tele-health capabilities.
Three flat-screen televisions for training and educational videos.
Wheelchair lift and accessibility.
Full-time veteran driver and veteran counselor.  

Millard noted that the mobile vets center will also be available at the same location on Friday, June 3, and Friday, July 1.  The lawmaker noted his appreciation for the Broadt family for their generosity in making space available at the TPC Powercenter.
